Defend The Fatherless
Defend The Fatherless is a York County–based nonprofit dedicated to supporting foster, adoptive, and kinship families as they care for children in vulnerable situations. The organization provides “wraparound” support, addressing not only physical needs but also the emotional, educational, and spiritual challenges that often come with caring for children who have experienced trauma. Through programs like the York County Foster Closet, families can access essential items such as clothing, diapers, furniture, and other necessities at no cost. In addition, Defend The Fatherless offers community-building events, counseling support, and practical resources that help families feel connected and equipped on their journey. Their mission is to give families one more reason to say “yes” to children in need by reducing the burdens and isolation that can come with foster care and adoption. By combining tangible assistance with meaningful relationships and encouragement, the organization plays a vital role in strengthening families and improving outcomes for children across the community.
