Guardian Ad Litem
The Guardian ad Litem (GAL) Program is a court-based advocacy program dedicated to protecting the best interests of children involved in abuse, neglect, or dependency cases. Through this program, trained volunteers are appointed by a judge to serve as an independent voice for children, ensuring their needs and well-being are represented throughout legal proceedings. Working alongside attorneys and program staff, GAL advocates build relationships with the children they serve, conduct thorough investigations, and provide informed recommendations to the court. Their role is to focus solely on what is best for the child, helping judges make decisions that support safety, stability, and long-term success. In addition to courtroom advocacy, the program emphasizes consistent support and monitoring to ensure each child’s situation continues to improve over time. By combining compassion, community involvement, and legal advocacy, the Guardian ad Litem Program plays a vital role in giving vulnerable children a voice and a path toward a more secure future.
